Scotch and Whiskey Glasses
A fine scotch, bourbon or blended whiskey deserves
the weight and feel of crystal in the hand.
Whiskey is distilled from fermented grain mash, including barley,
malted barley, rye, malted rye, wheat, and maize (corn). Most whiskies
are aged in wooden casks, generally made of oak.
The slight variations in color can only be appreciated held to
the light in a fine crystal glass.
Quality always shows, whether in hand-made crystal or the whiskey
of your choice.
Whisky gains as much as 60% of its flavor from the type of cask
used in its aging process, based upon the type of wood used and
the amount of charring or toasting done to the wood.
Bourbon
is legally required to be aged in charred new oak barrels, whereas
Scotch whiskies often use partially spent barrels from
Bourbon production to induce a slower maturation time, adding
additional subtle nuance.
Tall glass or short, we have a selection for every taste.
Whiskies do not mature in the bottle, only in the cask, so the "age" of
a whisky is the time between distillation and bottling.
So, drink it however pleases you, but it may taste better from
a glass with a 500-year history of hand-craftsmanship.
